Monarchs at the Mansion

Early February, Portland Monarchs and volunteers broke ground on the new Monarch habitat at Pittock Mansion. This trial habitat will offer native milkweeds and native nectar flowers which will provide host-plants for monarch caterpillars and food for the adult butterflies. Watch us grow: the habitat is just below the overlook that offers the stunning view of Mt. Hood and the city of Portland. The evergreen trees offer roosting spots and shelter for visiting butterflies and the open, sunny location is ideal for the plants monarchs love. There is plenty of room to expand this habitat as volunteers demonstrate their commitment to maintaining it. Contact monarchcorridor@gmail.com to volunteer!
